"A Nice Walk in the Park" was first recorded in mid-2001. We *should* have released it as a CD single, sort of like this, with a promotional video in 2001! That could have been life-changing, considering how the national JJJ radio station found and broadcast it regularly from 2003.
However during 2001 to 2004 we were so busy with too many projects - new work, new accommodation, plus making so many songs for several projects and producing compilation CDs ... It mean this track was overlooked ... Until it was finally released in 2003 on the "ElectriCity" compilation CDs of Canberra city electronic music projects - produced by Robot Citizen - see footnote [1].
From that compilation national Triple J radio station added "A Nice Walk in the Park" to their daily playlist in 2003. So it was broadcast across the nation several times per day for several months. :)
We found playlists showing the track was featured as late as 2005 on specialty JJJ radio programs like "The Club" - considered to be the nation's premier dance music show; as well as on "Home & Hosed" the JJJ Australian music show during. You can see playlists for those shows on the E.L.F. website portfolio -
www.ELFmusic.net.
As a result of that JJJ airplay from 2003 on there were offers of interest from event promoters to perform in support of well-known international artists. Unfortunately an injury and illness - from doing too much - resulted in a long slow recovery. That put all such matters on hold from 2004. Then life got in the way, and it has taken us until 2024 to upload this to Bandcamp.
If we had released "A Nice Walk in the Park" as a CD single in 2001, made a video clip and thoroughly promoted it, it would likely have been a breakthrough that meant we would receive record label financial support, so we could take things to the next level - produce a high quality album, produce videos and tour seriously ... We could have excelled instead of fizzling out.
Sigh, the wisdom and regret from experience and hindsight! ;)
The track was released on the "Live at XXL" CDR in early 2002. You can find that album on this Bandcamp channel. However that was a limited run of custom made copies, given to friends, radio DJs and a small number for sale from the mail order Blatant Propaganda record label and from the office of Community Radio 2XX in Canberra city.
Here is the original 2001 mix of the track, plus a live version from 2003 in Sydney at Club Kooky, plus a remix by David Primmer of Mixed Media in 2003.
